Certificate of Appreciation for Mary Tate Cottages
We have awarded our first Certificate of Appreciation of 2020, to the residents of Mary Tate Cottages. A socially distanced presentation ceremony was well attended by residents of the Cottages, and we enjoyed tea and cakes on the front lawn.
The Certificate of Appreciation recognises residents’ contribution to the community, including holding events like the recent VE Day commemoration tea and participating in Mitcham Heritage Day as well as maintaining a well-manicured front garden that is a credit to the local street scene.
What we're working on
Air quality. We are monitoring air qualtiy in Mitcham on an ongoing basis. Latest info is in News
The Canons. We were one of three community organisations in Mitcham instrumental in securing £4.3 million for The Canons in summer 2017. We are now involved in work on spending this money to reinvigorate the open spaces and The Canons house. Check the project out on Facebook
Our street scene. We care about how Mitcham feels as a place to live, work, shop and relax. We comment on planning applications when we think they will be harmful to our area which we think still has a strong village feel thanks to its open spaces and historic buildings.
Litter. An ongoing problem in Mitcham we are constantly on the alert for fly tips and litter build-ups. We report these to Merton Council's streets contractor Veolia and its parks contractor IdVerde. You can report too - try tweeting @VeoliaUK @idverdeUK or reporting online to Merton Council
More. We get involved in other projects too. Watch this space for the latest news!
We meet as a group serveral times a year to discuss the work we've been doing, and what we plan to do in the future.
If you would like to come along - please email for the meeting details.
